How does bundling effect the price of my insurance.

Image
Progressive Insurance offered a look last fall at whom they are targeting with their advertising dollars. They called them the “Robinsons”. As an independent insurance agency, we keep an eye out for changes in the marketplace to see how we can improve our products in our community.  The Robinsons are a segment of the marketplace that includes households who own a home and car and place the insurance with the same insurer as a bundle. They represent the ideal customer for the big insurance company. They have the highest retention of 53% and the longest retention with 45% having been with their insurance provider 11 years or more. These are the customers that are highly sought after by big insurance companies and see some (but not all) discounts.  Robinsons are important to big insurance. There are a couple of force s that are driving this ideal group to shop: 1. Record high numbers of serious collisions.  2. Skyrocketing used vehicle valuations with inflated rep...

What is a critical insurance coverage for a non-profit and their board?

Image
Matt worked with his first non-profit when he was fifteen. (We do so much volunteer work that we are debating moving fully to a special benefit corporation). Volunteer work holds an important place in our hearts. One of the simple rules is if it is important then insure it. One mishap and a nonprofit can lose years of progress from that lapse of judgment. Right after your articles of incorporation, the next document that your board should have is your insurance policy. Non-profit board liability insurance, also known as directors and officers (D&O) insurance, typically covers legal fees and damages arising from lawsuits against the non-profit organization's board members and officers for alleged wrongful acts or omissions committed in their roles as leaders of the organization. Specifically, D&O insurance may cover the following: 1.        1.  Legal defense costs : This includes attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses associa...

How to get cheap insurance for my teen driver?

Image
Getting cheap insurance for a teenage driver can be tricky, as younger drivers are considered higher risk by insurance companies. Seriously, we have a high school driver in our household and from driver’s education, the new rules through getting the new insurance increase, the experience is while. However, there are a few steps you can take to try and lower your premiums:   Shop around: Different insurance companies offer different rates, so it's important to compare quotes from multiple insurance companies before deciding. We brought our policies in-house and shopped at six different companies at Wenatchee Insurance . Our household’s insurance was with a single company.   We knew we needed more shopping power without going to half a dozen different agencies.  Shop Wenatchee Insurance 's exchange.  Consider adding your teen driver to your existing policy depending on the company. Some companies are set up better for older drivers. Yes, you want all the...

How much does one time event insurance cost?

Image
Pop Up Events are awesome! We have some great pop up events in Central Washington. We have festivals like Apple Blossom , Wenatchee and Chelan Pride . We have Farmers' Markets . We have weddings. At Wenatchee Insurance we are seeing more questions about Event Insurance. We have multiple companies that we work with because we are an independent agency.  It's why we have a basic form to start a quote!  Event Insurance is important because it protects the folks that are running the events and the venue that is hosting the event. The cost of event insurance can vary depending on several factors, including the type of activity, the level of risk from similar events in the past, and the coverage limits required by the venue. A 250-person wedding with an open bar will have a completely different rate than a 70-person attendance book reading. A bouncy house will have a different rate than BBQ.  Generally, event insurance is designed to be affordable and accessible to bu...

Are you paying too much for home insurance?

Image
At Wenatchee Insurance , we like to know why a possible new client in Chelan/Douglas County is searching for new coverage with us.  Yup, the answers vary, but we do see some trends, and usually that is centered around price.  Who doesn't think about price these days? Buyers have more options than ever and the elusive better deal is sometimes not elusive at all.  Are you paying too much for insurance? People don't want to overpay. Plain and simple. You'll see the majority of advertisements focus on helping customers save money. $300 billion a year spent on advertising proves this to be the case. Companies want to keep saving money front of mind, and when it comes to saving money, they want to stand out ahead of the competition to bring that buyer in-house versus going with someone else.  For the consumer, the big question, am I paying too much? Trusting the companies that advertise to them isn't the best strategy. Never treat good marketing as equali...

Do You Have To Have Home Insurance In Wenatchee, Washington?

Image
Whether you live in Wenatchee or not, we think it's great when we hear from Washington homeowners and learn they do not carry a mortgage on their home. This usually falls in the range of a third of the Washington state population. That is a great situation to put yourself in, and we know it's not easy getting there unless you received the house as a gift from your late great Uncle. We'll get questions from folks in this situation about whether or not insurance is required at this point. That's a valid question. Why would someone want to pay a premium for insurance on a home if they aren't required to do so? It just so happens, Washington law does not mandate a homeowner as required to carry insurance on their mortgage-free home.  So, what about those who do carry a mortgage? Do you have to have home insurance in Wenatchee? What About Mortgage? The majority of the Washington population does carry a mortgage and we are required to carry home insurance. You ...

Why is Inclusive Business important with insurance?

Image
Feeling safe is important. At home, at work, and walking around town. There have been days we walked into stores throughout the years and felt uncomfortable because we didn’t fit the white heteronormative image of a "standard" consumer. It didn’t feel right when we were talked down to. We knew that there was a better way and built our insurance agency around inclusivity. We asked questions like: Human : Why is inclusive business important ? AI : Inclusive business is important because it seeks to create economic opportunities for marginalized groups such as those living in poverty, the disabled, and women. By extending economic opportunities to diverse social and economic structures, inclusive businesses can contribute to economic growth, create jobs, and reduce poverty . Additionally, inclusive businesses can also help create a more equitable society, by reducing inequality and enabling those from underprivileged backgrounds to access economic opportunities. ...

Local Radio wasn't enough in North Central Washington so we helped a new station

What happens when your favorite radio personality get's let go from their radio station? Do you move on? We get nerdy over Star Wars and listened for years while we drove our son to school. Face it there is not many good stations out there that are local with local personality. Nikki Darling could have jumped to a bigger market. She could have left the area but this was home despite being raised on the East Coast! This is what we have to say about the Bear On the Air Project. This online radio station is launching February 1st. From what we have seen, it is amazing work by Nikki. We met Nikki back from her days with KPQ and doing the morning show. It would be a crime to let leave the area.
