COVID - 19, Corona Virus and what to do in Washington State.

Thank you to the Governor, the Office of the Insurance Commissioner and having some good people, there are resources available despite the quarantine efforts to slow the virus. Here at Suzie Health Solutions we have been at the front line helping people through this. No we don't charge nor when we enroll people into Healthplanfinder plans during special enrollments do we get paid for them.

Governor Inslee has put a two week closure to all Restaurants, bars, entertainment and recreational facilities as well as limits on large gatherings. Yes, it means that we can not go to the gym or get our haircut. It also means a ton of folks are into emergency funds to try to pay the bills. This shutdown is effective until March 31st.

This "Flattening of the curve" is an important tool to fight the Pandemic.  The theory is traced back to a 2007 report to decompress the burden on the healthcare system so that it wasn't overwhelmed. It allows things like a drive thru test site in Wenatchee to be set up.  A mobile test site at the U of W. Vaccines developed.

If you need help then here is some critical information.

  1. If you don't have healthcare then get some. Seriously, we are in a Special Enrollment Period until April 8th that allows people to enroll. There are some extra hoops so I do suggest contacting a Enrollment Center so that they can walk you through the process and you can get what you want. .
    1. When you have a healthcare plan then testing fees and prior authorizations are waved. You can also get one early refill of medication.
    2. If you have a high deductible plan then look at a Supplemental policy to cover Hospital Care. There are some out there that can fill in the gaps quickly.
  2. If you are out of work, then there are Emergency rules in place because of the COVID - 19 Virus to help out.  The Employment Security Department is where you want to go.
  3.  If you have problems paying your mortgage, credit cards, paying rent or student loans then check out this page
  4. Small Businesses my qualify for disaster loans to help out in Washington state. There are a ton of us that have shut down and things will get tight very quickly.

While this is a stressful time. There are steps that we can do to make it through this crisis. Make time to unwind, eat healthy and exercise. The CDC has some great information. Let's get through this together. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 or the NAMI helpline at 800-950-NAMI (6264).
